There is no better way to experience love and
compassion than by helping those in need,
a call Knights answer every day.

Knights banded together can accomplish more
than any of us could accomplish individually
in support of our Church and priests.

Knights socialize together and take care of each other –
we have each others’ back.

Members of the Knights of Columbus are proud
of our devotion to God and country,
and believe in standing up for both.

Family of the Month Archives

Each month a family is selected to receive the Family of the Month award because of the contribution the family made to the welfare of the Council or the Parish community in general. Consideration is given to all family members when selecting the Family of the Month. Good works come in many forms and all will be considered when making this selection. Nominations for Family of the Month are accepted, discussed and voted upon during the regular Officers and Directors meeting held the 3rd Tuesday of each month. Any Knight can attend this meeting and nominate a Knight and his family for this award. All Knights in good standing are eligible to receive this award. The Family Activity Director administers this award from nomination through awarding of the certificate.

Family of Month – June 2016

Bill and Cindy Dover Bill is quasi-retired from his optometry practice, Cindy is 100 percent retired from working in his office, and Bill is now stepping aside as District Deputy following the atypically long time frame of five years. Bill says with some trepidation that Cindy should enjoy having him around the house more “as…

Family of Month – May 2016

Ernest Alvarez family Ernest and son Ernest III helped bring a new element to the weekly fish fries during the recently completed Lenten season. They prepared fish tacos at their Oak Cliff home and then, with the help of neighbor Tony Gonzalez, distributed them during the Friday dinners. Ernest said his 26-year-old son saw him…

Family of the Month – April 2016

Carlos and Melisa Limones The council’s recent Lenten fish fries provided another opportunity for brother Knights to watch the energetic and dedicated Limones family in action. In baseball parlance, they’re usually our closers. Carlos and his five children were busy helping with both the serving line and the invaluable duty of cleaning up and getting…

Family of the Month – March 2016

Freddy and Milly Vazquez Freddy’s ascension through the KC ranks has been a rather quick one. He joined the order in August 2015 and, on the final Saturday of February, received the baldric of the Fourth Degree. The Vazquezes moved to Duncanville within the past year as Freddy began a new chapter of his life,…

Family of the Month – February 2016

Allen and Linda Reitmeier The “off-season” for the Reitmeiers will end in a few weeks with the beginning of youth baseball’s spring season since he will again oversee the council’s successful concessions operations. But the native Minnesotans really have no downtime though technically in retirement. Allen and his Knight Hands helpers recently increased their number…

Family of the Month – January 2016

Charles and Marina Turner Charles joined our council last August and wasted little time becoming involved in KC activities along with Marina. They pitched in at the Cedar Hill baseball concession stand during fall ball. Charles was one of the council’s non-Fourth Degree members who gladly volunteered to help during Assembly 2799’s annual clergy appreciation…

Family of the Month – December 2015

The Daniel Rosales family For the sake of clarity, we’ll refer to the father-son council members here as Daniel and Junior. No matter the names, they are valued contributors to 8157 activities. Daniel joined the order in October 2013 and took his major degrees in February 2015. The latter occurred only weeks after Junior became…

Family of the Month – November 2015

Andy, Susan and Madison Goza If you didn’t notice Andy, Susan or Madison hard at work at some point during the parish’s recent fall festival, you weren’t looking hard enough. Andy served as one of the co-chairmen of the festival, from the planning stages months earlier to the post-teardown get-together out in the parking lot…

Family of the Month – October 2015

Jack and Juanita Ramsden The Ramsdens again played a quiet-but-substantial role in the success of the parish’s recent Fall Festival. They coordinated pickups of furniture and other large and heavy items for sale during the festival’s rummage sale for months before the actual two-day event. Jack was also literally picking up many of the items…

Family of the Month – September 2015

Peter and Bimbo Perta Peter joined our council in June 2011 and took his major degree later that year. He and Bimbo (pronounced BEEM-bo) have been married since 2010. Both of them grew up Catholic in upstate New York and met on the campus of Syracuse University. She was helping at a basketball concession stand,…

Family of the Month – August 2015

John and Bonnie Espree The Esprees are active in multiple aspects of KC efforts and parish life in general. John is the council’s warden, is a captain at the baseball concession stand, participates in various cooking events (breakfasts, fish fries, cookouts)  and helps out with Knight Hands. He also volunteers with faith formation traffic control…

Family of the Month – July 2015

James and Judy Smith During the youth baseball World Series in Cedar Hill in late June, James was one of the members of the baseball operations committee who dealt with the seemingly incessant need to stock the concession stands. He performed admirably, especially for someone still trying to work the kinks out of a second…
