There is no better way to experience love and
compassion than by helping those in need,
a call Knights answer every day.

Knights banded together can accomplish more
than any of us could accomplish individually
in support of our Church and priests.

Knights socialize together and take care of each other –
we have each others’ back.

Members of the Knights of Columbus are proud
of our devotion to God and country,
and believe in standing up for both.

Les helped fight against the Nazis with the Polish Underground while going to school. He left after the war for Paris, where he studied…

Knight of the Month – April 2016

James Smith Here’s a checklist for James Smith: two knee replacements, one hip replacement and one big ol’ heart that’s often on display given his boundless enthusiasm and energy to provide for our council and all of Holy Spirit parish. James joined the council in 2013, took his major degrees a year later and recently…

Knight of the Month – March 2016

Luis “Tony” Gonzalez Tony has wasted little time in becoming involved in the council. Wasted no time, actually. He was inducted in November 2015 at the urging of his brother, Elio, who is himself a recent newcomer to the council. Tony jumped right in by helping out at the fish fries during Lent, has already…

Knight of the Month – February 2016

Jim Richardson It appears Jim enjoys this Knight business. He’s completing his second fraternal year as the council’s Deputy Grand Knight while doubling as Assembly 2799’s Faithful Navigator, the Fourth Degree equivalent of Grand Knight. Jim was recognized as the council’s 29th annual Knight of the Year last summer. He joined the order in 1962…

Knight of the Month – January 2016

Jim Stavinoha The council went looking for a new director of church activities late last year after Pat May earned a respite from the duties after many years. We couldn’t have picked a better successor than Jim. He has embraced the position with enthusiasm and energy. Jim hit the ground running in September with the…

Sir Knight Larry Balagna

Knight of the Month – December 2015

Larry Balagna Larry is a tireless contributor to council activities. It seems like we don’t scramble an egg or set up and take down a room without him pitching in. Larry is part of the regular “posse” that makes Allen Reitmeier’s Knight Hands initiative so successful. His dedication was recently on display before, during and…

Knight of the Month – November 2015

Ed O’Brien Ed is one of many past Grand Knights of 8157 who continue to be active in council activities. Before you know it, it will time for Lenten fish fries and Ed will be taking his shopping list to stock up each week. He has previously filled a similar role in advance of parish…

Knight of the Month – October 2015

Dan Murphy Dan has been very active lately both within and beyond his duties as our director of community activities. He is organizing the next semi-annual cookout at St. Joseph’s Nursing Home in Oak Cliff, which will take place on Saturday, Oct. 10. That comes on the heels of 8157’s annual cookout for the seminarians…

Knight of the Month – September 2015

Bill Dover Bill is now in his 52nd year as a Knight. We’ll do the math for you – he joined in June 1964 in the south Texas town of Edinburg once he met the age requirement. He previously belonged to the lead-in Columbian Squires group. Bill serves as our district deputy, in his final…

Sir Knight Jeff Miller

Knight of the Month – July 2015

Mike Rumsey Mike was one of the many heroes of the council’s efforts during the youth baseball World Series staged at multiple venues across Cedar Hill in late June. As part of the council’s baseball concessions operations committee, he assisted Allen Reitmeier in staffing, stocking, whatever needed to be done. And when wasps proved to…
