Allen and Linda Reitmeier
The “off-season” for the Reitmeiers will end in a few weeks with the beginning of youth baseball’s spring season since he will again oversee the council’s successful concessions operations. But the native Minnesotans really have no downtime though technically in retirement. Allen and his Knight Hands helpers recently increased their number of total jobs to 163 since he started a program that exemplifies St. James’ tenet that faith without good deeds is dead. Linda shuttles among various volunteer missions at the parish and is a huge help with his council activities. Their altruistic efforts extend beyond their faith life into the community through Meals on Wheels. Allen, our Knight of the Year for 2009-10, joined the order in November 2007 and took his major degrees two months later. He took over operation of the concession operations in fall 2008 and put together as profitable a year as ever last year despite the prohibitively rainy spring. The Reitmeiers were married in 1969 and have four children and nine grandkids. They initially came to north Texas in 1983 and returned in 1993 … for good? We certainly hope so.
