John Sinks was our Grand Knight for the 1984/85 and 1985/86 fraternal years. John joined the Knights of Columbus in 1958. He moved to Holy Spirit Parish and transferred to Council #8157 on May 1 ~1 1983, bringing with him many years of valuable experience to a still fairly young Council. John was a member of the Knights for 26years prior to becoming Grand Knight of Council #8157 (25 of those years in other Councils). Needless to say, it didn’t take long for John to become active in our Council. John was instrumental in initiating the use of pancake breakfasts as a tool to raise addition revenue for Council activities by selling items such as Rosaries and K.C.pens. The Council also pledge $so to Hike for Life, a significant amount of money considering the Council’s in come at the time. The Knights were also called upon to distribute Thanksgiving baskets to the needy in the parish. The Council began purchasing and using member name badges for the entire membership during his term of office. Following his time with Council #8157, John moved to Fayetteville, North Carolina then to Carthage, North Carolina and finally Sanford North Carolina, Council #6717. John was a member of the Knights of Columbus until he passed away on September 27, 1999. Keep John and his family in your prayers.
