Knight of the Month – June 2023

John Owen comes to us from west Texas; Midland to be precise.  He was born and raised there and graduated from Texas Tech with a degree in electrical engineering.  Right out of college he started working for Dallas Power and Light (the forerunner of today’s Oncor) and remained there until his retirement in 2022.  Along his journey, during a singles retreat, he met Anne.  They were wed in 1986 and have been together for the past 37 years raising three children:  Katie, Jess and Daniel.  All three kids are doing well in the area – both Jess and Daniel to be married this very year.  While John is retire, Anne still does her veterinarian work in Ovilla but is looking forward to retirement to help spoil their one grandchild.  One of John’s specialties while with Oncor was underground high voltage transmission – especially important to high rise building in major cities.  He still works a few hours a week in this field.  Even before John became a Knight, he helped with church activities especially anything involving marriage enrichment, marriage preparation and he has long been involved in ACTS, and is currently Core Facilitator for Core Group.  Since becoming a Knight he has attended numerous meetings, helped with Knight Hand’s projects and worked at the concession stand.  He plays golf when he finds the time; but spends a lot of his free time taking care of the various animals Anne has accumulated.  Congratulations on the well-deserved honor of Knight of the Month for June 2023
