4. Steven Mitchell

Steven Mitchell was our Grand Knight for the 1986/87 and 1987/88 fraternal years. Steve joined the Knights of Columbus in 1983 at Council #5155 in Arlington, Texas. He moved to Holy Spirit parish and transferred to Council #8157 in May of 1984 and became our Grand Knight two years later. Steve made changes early in his term. Some of the more important accomplishments associated with his term as Grand Knight are as follows: Shortly after his installation, on his third regular business meeting, the meeting nights were changed from the 1st and 3rdMondays to the current 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month. This prompted an increase in attendance at the meetings for both members and officers and directors. The Council also held the first of 2 Las Vegas nights as fundraisers for the Council. With limited success these were discontinued. The Tootsie Roll drive was also held to raise funds for the Diocesan Deaf charities. Upon leaving the further his education, Steve moved to Hondo, Texas and later moved to Rosenberg, Texas and transferred to Ft. Bend Council #2801. Steve decided to leave the Knights of Columbus and left the order in 1993.
