A transfer from Council 14549 at St. Maria Goretti parish in Arlington, his first name is pronounced “HOO-lee-on.” Julian grew up in the South Texas town of Crystal City (spinach capital of the world!) and joined the Knights in 2010 in the San Antonio-area town of Helotes because he wanted to be part of a organization that did worthwhile outreach in the community. He was a private contractor but had to retire a few months ago when he was diagnosed with ALS, the result of a bite from a brown recluse spider. Julian and wife Maricela, who goes by “Sally,” have been married for 16 years. Julian has stepdaughters who are 31 and 30 and a stepson who is 22. The Rios family from to Cedar Hill a few months ago, looking for more elbow room than what they previous had. Soon after they began attending Holy Spirit, Julian spotted Jim Kowalski wearing a KC pin and asked how he could transfer.
