Mario said he had been thinking for quite some time about joining the Knights. “It was time to join now,” he said. Al Alonzo was his sponsor, but Mario said he didn’t have to have his arm twisted. Mario came to the United States from the Philippines in 1990 and, following one month in California, settled here in the Dallas area, where wife Zenaida had been transferred. She worked for AAFES, and Mario has also worked for AAFES now for 13 years. He recently was promoted to business analyst. The Mejias live in Cedar Hill, will celebrate their 26th anniversary on July 11 and have two grown daughters.
