Sande is the head usher at the Sunday evening Mass. “The token adult” as he puts it, for the weekly youth Mass. He was born in The Bronx, N.Y., graduated from high school in nearby Park Ridge, N.J., and graduated from the University of New Haven in Connecticut. He spent time in both the Marine Corps and the Army. He and wife Loreen came south in 1988 to help her with her arthritis. Loreen was a nurse and a catechist at Holy Spirit; she passed away in 2005. Sande has 10 children (seven of them living ), 26 grandchildren (25 living) and two great-grandchildren. He runs a company in Plano called LMJ Environmental.
