Teddie AndersonTeddie Anderson, wife of council member Jack Anderson, was recently honored as one of the parish’s two 2013 recipients of the second annual Bishop’s Medal for Service to the Church. “I’m honored, but I feel that I do what I do for the church,” Teddie said. “It’s God’s talent; it’s not mine.” Many parishioners recognize Teddie as the volunteer director of the annual rummage sale that’s held during the Fall Festival, an activity that takes much of her time for months before the sale takes place. She has also been active in multiple Holy Spirit ministries through the years, particularly in Adult & Family Ministry.

The diocese’s 138 honorees were each presented with a medal and a certificate at the downtown Cathedral on Saturday, Feb. 23. But Teddie was excused from the ceremony because that was the day of the funeral for Anne Keough, Holy Spirit’s long-time director of Adult & Family Ministry and Faith Formation. “Anne was almost like my sister,” Teddie said. “My heart was anywhere but getting an award. And a lot of it I did with her.” The diocese sent a representative to Holy Spirit that afternoon to make a personal presentation to Teddie at the luncheon that followed Anne’s funeral.

Teddie and Jack have been married for 38 years.

Last year, one of the parish’s two honorees was our own Mario Tiambeng.
