2025 Casino Night

On February 15th the Parish held its second annual pre-lent Casino Night. As occurred last year this event was only able to take place because many of our Knights and their wives volunteered to play key roles in making this event happen. Dr. Robert Nieto volunteered to head up the committee that consisted of Chris Kubin, Dan and Pat Murphy, Jim Ouimet, and John Espree, Lyndora Castro, CDA Regent, along with a few other parishioners. Planning for the event began right before Christmas but hit full steam in early January when Pat Murphy, (Brother Dan’s wife), and her team started visiting local stores and businesses to collect donations to use as prizes. Their efforts resulted in a total of over 30 prizes from our local community for Casino night participants to bid on. Pat Murphy, Sandi Ciarochi, (Brother Fred’s wife), and Nancy Nardella spent many hours sorting and labeling items.

The team of John Espree, and Dan and Pat Murphy was responsible for developing a heavy hors d’oeuvre menu for the event. Once again, our council donated the beer and wine for the event along with Brother Roberto Diaz’s son Bobby who donated beer from his ODD Muse Brewing Company. The set up/food preparation crew consisting of Frank and Lourdes Salazar, John and Bonnie Espree, Manuel and Nadia Urias, Allen and Linda Reitmeier, Larry and Sheila Balagna, Grand Knight Mike and Susan Fitzgerald,  Adan and Norma Luna, Jim Ouimet, Chris Kubin, Mary Archer (Brother Keith’s wife).

Dan and Pat Murphy, Robert and Gloria Nieto spent many hours on February 15th setting up tables, arranging  the silent auction items for display, decorating for the event, and completing initial food preparations. The afternoon cooking crew of Efrain Ochoa, Frank and Lourdes Salazar, John Espree, Jim Ouimet, Mary Archer, and Dan Murphy began final food preparation around 3:30 so that all was ready to go when the gamblers showed up at 6:30. The team of John Espree, Adan and Norma Luna, Efrain Ochoa, and Jim Ouimet then served up the delicious food spread to the incoming guest. As he did last year, Chris Kubin skillfully managed the money/chip exchange table. This tremendous effort by our Knights and their wives resulted in an outstanding parish event in which all participants had a great time socializing and gambling the night away. As the event wrapped up many of the earlier involved Knights along with David and Veronica Ybarro jumped in and helped clean up and reset the gym for Youth formation the next morning.  Once again, our council of outstanding knights and their wives ensured the parish was treated to an outstanding social event.
