Jorge and Connie have known each other since they were children in Mexico. They’ve been in Texas for 21 years and will celebrate their 38th wedding anniversary on July 31, having been wed in Las Cruses, New Mexico near El Paso. “We never thought we would get together,” he said. They live in Arlington, Jorge working at Dallas’ Parkland Hospital as a mechanic and Connie as a registered nurse at Baylor Medical Center. They have three grown children (Jorge Jr., 36, living in New Mexico; Elizabeth, 35, in Irving; Fernando, 28, also in New Mexico) and 11 grandchildren. Jorge originally joined the Order in Irving in 2007 and became a member of 8157 in January 2024. He and Connie were heavily involved in the council fish fry operations during this past Lent. “I just like helping others,” Jorge said.
