Property Improvement Program

In the Spring of 2017, your Knights of Columbus, through Knight Hands, first participated in P.I.P. The picture below is from the very first P.I.P. project completed by Knight Hands.

Through the years and in conjunction with the First United Methodist Church, Grace Place Church, and the City of Duncanville, Knight Hands has complete a project each Spring and fall since 2017. And so it was again this Spring. With soft hearts, strong arms, and willing minds 6 Knights again completed not one but two P.I.P. projects on September 28, 2024. The first project involved cutting and removing two fallen trees.

After some preliminary evaluation, we broke into two teams and tackled the job with gusto. Nobody hung back – we all jumped in and did what was needed. Everybody seemed to know how to operate a chainsaw and we had plenty on hand – we even borrowed two from David Dybala plus his 12′ step ladder.

As it happened there was a fallen tree on both sides of this lady’s house, so there was a lot of chainsaw noise. Although everyone got right to work, no one was careless and we made it through this project with no injuries or blood at all. Of course, after these trees were cut into manageable pieces, the pieces had to be lugged to the curb side for pick up by Republic Services – everyone joined in on that job as well. In this writers humble opinion, everyone seemed to be elated and happy and even grateful to be able to help this lady in need.

The second project was a very simple and short. Moises Martinez and myself repaired a backyard fence and trimmed some low branches. It always makes me proud to work with Knight Hands in whatever project we take on. In total we worked about 14 hours man hours to complete these two projects. Thank you very much: Rod Kinard, Moises Martinez, Jesus Aguirre, Manuel Urias, and Hector Rubio. We are all proud of you and grateful for your generosity in giving of your time and effort to fulfill the mission of the Knights of Columbus.
