Knight Hands Remodeling a Kitchen

David Dybala, Hector Rubio, Jorge Ruiz and yours truly, arrived at the home of Louise Utley on the morning of Wednesday October 23rd with the intent of re-arranging this lady’s kitchen so that it could accommodate a free standing 30″ stove. That involved removing the existing double oven – we removed that pretty quickly and carried it to the curb for anyone to pick up. Same for the surface cooking unit, which no longer worked. Next we removed the double oven cabinet and the surface unit cabinet. We then installed the surface unit cabinet into the vacancy we created when we removed the double oven cabinet. It sure sounds confusing as I write this narrative; but we handles it with ease.

David cut the old counter top to make room for the new butcher block top. There was a small glitch there, but no problem for David and his problem solving abilities. Jorge repaired the drywall holes behind the moved cabinetry and installed the base cabinet for the new butcherblock top. After cutting the butcher block countertop to fit the newly moved cabinet, Jorge secured the top – it fit just right.

While this was all going on, Hector Rubio was busy unhooking the old appliance wiring and installing new (and bigger) wiring for the free standing stove.

So now Louise Utley is half way to her objective of being able to cook on something besides a hot plate. She still doesn’t have nor can afford to buy a stove to put in the space we provided for her. Nevertheless, she was most grateful for the remodeling job, and is now saving up for a new stove. If anyone has a functioning free standing stove, please let me know. Thanks guys for a terrific morning of charitable labor.
