Congratulations to Jim Ouimet for being selected Knight of the Month for October 2024. Jim lives in Red Oak, TX and has lived in Dallas since 1989. He was born in Spokane, WA and has been a Knight since 2013. He became a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church around 2010. Jim is a retired Petroleum Engineer which he did for 45 years. His wife, Lou, passed away in 2019. They have one daughter (Denise) and one step daughter (Lisa) with 4 grandkids and 3 great grandkids. Denise lives in Amarillo, TX while Lisa lives near Lewisville, TX at Highland Village. He considers Amarillo his hometown after having graduated high school there as well as moving all over due to his time in the military serving in the Air Force. They even spent time in Great Britain from 1957-60. His Father served in the military as well. Jim graduated from West Texas State, which is now West Texas A&M, in 1979. His job in the military was as a ground radio repairman. Jim goes back to visit Amarillo every so often as he just did so recently. Jim wasn’t baptized as a Catholic until the age of 10 where he was baptized, received first communion and confirmation. He says he thankfully doesn’t know anything else but Catholicism. His goals as a Catholic are to maintain his safe environment status and reach the 4th degree as a Knight. He collaborates with Allen Reitmeier to do baseball concessions and attributes his membership to Frank Salazar and Andy Goza whom he acknowledges as a good personality and that people were drawn to him. Jim attends the 7:30 am mass on Sundays.
