KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS

News

We are men who lead, serve, protect and defend, whether we are giving out Coats for Kids, donating wheelchairs, lending a helping hand in disaster relief efforts, supporting local pregnancy centers or providing top-quality financial products.

Play Pac Sports

This past weekend Play Pac Sports held the King of the Diamond NIT Baseball
Tournament at Valley Ridge Park in Cedar Hill. We had 40 games total, 20 on Saturday
and 20 on Sunday.

Mary and Keith Archer, John Espree, Frank Salazar, and Barry Barksdale

I would first like to thank all the Knights that came out and helped
(Allen Reitmeier opened and closed Saturday, and opened again on Sunday, Hector
Rubio, Frank Salazar, Jim Ouimet, Moses Martinez and his nephew Oswaldo Gonzales
who is doing community service needed for his conformation, Larry Balagna, John
Owens, Russell Gulley, Dan Murphy, Jesus Aguirre, Peter Perta Marc Evans, Leobardo
Ortiz, Robert Tovar and his wife Vickie who is the master of the snow cone machine, our
past Grand Knight Jorge Ruiz, Miguel Hernandez and his sons David and Benjamin,
Eduardo Torres, and last but certainly not least Dr. Roberto Nieto).

This weekend we were able to generate more than $5k in sales. As many of you know, the proceeds
from baseball is what enables Knights to fund our various activities such as Sunday
morning breakfast that we all love, donations to the Church, Knight Hands and many
more acts of service. The time spent at the baseball concessions is a time to build
bonds and friendship with your fellow Knights through hard work. I want you all to know
that wives, children, grandchildren are all invited to come out and help. Dan Murphy is
known to bring his granddaughters, and Keith Archer is always accompanied by Mary.
Leobardo and I make it a point to take our boys as well to teach them the value of
service. So, when I text and or call do me a favor and answer and or respond to my text.
I’ll leave you all with a funny story from Sunday. We were busy on Sunday and ran out
of burgers, and Jorge began to cook burgers, but he overcooked them a little bit. It was
determined by Robert and myself that he be relieved and a closer was brought in to
relieve him from the grill from this point forward lolol.
