Safe Environment

Jorge Ruiz gave the Council an update on the Dallas Diocese Chapter (DDC) Safe Environment (SE) rollout/implementation.  The SE requirements include each Knight undergoing annual SE continuing education training and biannual voluntary criminal background checks.

  1. There are four (4) Districts (consisting of sixteen (16) Councils) who are participating in the initial rollout.  The rollout has been slow.  Getting a complete and accurate list from each Council of its current roster of Knights with their pertinent information has been a challenge.
    1. Due to the slow initial rollout, it may be sometime in February before our Council will participate in the rollout process.
    1. Have we identified those Knights who participate in Holy Spirit church ministries where the parish is already taking care of doing the necessary background checks and follow ups on annual SE continuing education training.

DDC Clergy Appreciation Dinner

The Council has purchased a table for the DDDC Clergy Appreciation Dinner which will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025, at Council 799 in North Dallas.  The table will seat eight (8) and we have extended an invitation to our two (2) priests to have them attend.

New Website for Our Council by Jorge Ruiz

Jorge Ruiz joined the Council in 2012. Since that time, he has been in charge of maintaining our current website.  In addition, he has worked on and developed the website for the Dallas Diocese Chapter (DDC) of the Knights of Columbus.  He has observed there is a need to connect these websites. Jorge has created a new platform with his own company that will connect every Council that joins the platform. It will be easy to share an event or a story with a click of a button. It will show up on the DDC website. Many items will be preloaded. The platform is enhanced as it will show upcoming events, a calendar, and highlight the Knight of the Year, etc. You can click a button and include a description of Supreme Council programs that you would like to include in our Council website. There will be a login page where you can use your member number to log in. We would have the ability to have several site administrators. The site administrates can add photos or content to the website. They can also do an e-mail campaign from the website. You can register for SE training.  Jorge requested that we change from our current website to the new website. There are two (2) other programmers and Jorge that will work together on the ongoing project. A motion was made that we adopt this new platform for our Council. The motion was seconded, and passed. We are the first Council in the USA to adopt this new Knight Platform. Congratulations, Jorge!
