It’s been a busy time for the Knights of this council the past couple weeks. On October 18th and 19th there were two baseball tournaments played at Valley Ridge Park (see complete story titled “a Baseball Rush” on this website). Also on the 18th of October the Retention Committee, headed up by Paul Ryan, sponsored a fraternal get-together at Kim and Jenny restaurant in Duncanville. The mission here was to pray together, and share conversation and a meal. By all account the mission was accomplished.

On the 22nd of October, Knight hands (Joel Lopez and myself) cleaned up the trash in the back yard, and adjusted the fence gate for Nancy Amarillo. On the 23rd and 24th Knight Hands (Jack Ramsden, Joel Lopez, Eduardo Torres and myself) moved the mailbox, added a section of railing and trimmed bushes for Gabi Hardin. On the 25th of October Knight Hands (Hector Rubio, Morris Curly, Juan Torres and myself) replaced the rotted floor for Martha Brown.

On Sunday October 19th, 2025, Knights prepared and served breakfast to our sister city guests from Italy. Duncanville’s sister city, by the way, is Monasterolo di Savigliano located in northeastern Italy, with a population of a couple thousand folks. From the information I have been able to gather, there were 24 adult visitors from Italy as well as two children. All the guests of our sister city stayed at homes in the parish community for the week they were in country as guests of Duncanville.

And even more recently Knight Hands (Peter Perta, Jack Ramsden, John Espree and myself) covered the pool for Rita Collier

And just this past Sunday, Nov. 2, 2025, Knight cooked and served a parish breakfast of bacon, eggs, pancakes, biscuits with gravy, hash brown, and a variety of drinks. Thanks to Larry Balagna, Isahi Arelleno, Jeff Traub, Barry Barksdale, Efrain Ochoa, John Espree, Lou Lemons, James Smith and myself. Best guess is we served about 120 guests.

And, of course, special Olympic (bowling) began on Monday Nov. 3rd. See the story on this website titled “an Aura of Humility”,
