We are men who lead, serve, protect and defend, whether we are giving out Coats for Kids, donating wheelchairs, lending a helping hand in disaster relief efforts, supporting local pregnancy centers or providing top-quality financial products.
The father and son team of Gilbert Zuñiga Sr. and Gilbert Jr., both brother knights in Council 8157, have come through again for us with another generous donation of almost two pallets full of assorted potato chips products, just in time for our parish Fall Festival. Our Worthy Brother Knight John Espree found out from the Zuñiga’s that they had this product available and gladly accepted it on behalf of our council and parish, and welcomed them to deliver it to Holy Spirit last Wednesday. A big thank you to our brother knights, the Zuñiga’s, and to John Espree for always being on the lookout for ways to help our parish.
John received another tip for a donation of basketball hoops and a putting green from another brother knight Philip Holyfield, whose contact at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Cedar Hill, Warehouse Manager Jerry Hall had offered to him. Again this is yet another timely gift that will most certainly be utilized in the games section of our midway at the upcoming Fall Festival at the end of September.
John Espree has been busy recently soliciting donations, making the phone calls and coordinating pickups and deliveries, and has been very generous with his time despite the fact that he works full time. But he doesn’t do it all alone, his 18 month old granddaughter helped him return my trailer on Friday. Also helping John with the games equipment pickup and delivery were Brother Knights Philip Holyfield, Mario Ramos, and our own Holy Spirit Business Administrator Yvette Gonzales’s husband Ray and son Chris.
