Cedar Hill Baseball Concession Stands

[dropcaps] A [/dropcaps]ll is quiet at this time in regard to little league baseball in Cedar Hill.  But come the end of March 2015, Valley Ridge Park in Cedar Hill will be a beehive of activity as the 2015 spring baseball season begins.  Opening day is scheduled for the weekend of March 21st and will continue through June 28th with the culmination being the Little League World Series the last week of June, 2015.

Operating the concession stands in Cedar Hill at the request of the Cedar Hill Baseball Association is a privilege and a money making proposition for the Cedar Hill Baseball Association and the Knights of this council.  Last year during the spring baseball season we attended more than 500 games and Knights worked approximately 1,800 man/hours to serve food and drinks to players, coaches, parents and fans.  For sure, this activity is the number one fund raiser for the council; but does not come without a lot of volunteer hours.

To put some perspective on the magnitude of this effort, during the spring baseball season in 2012, volunteer Knights served approximately:

Games were held on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings beginning at 6:00PM and all day Saturday starting at 8:00AM. Jim Richardson headed the Monday night team, Dick Bates the Tuesday night team and Frank Salazar the Thursday night team. Ed O’Brien opened the concession stand every Saturday morning.

During the 4 tournaments about 60 different Knights worked at different times to make this year a success. During the five day World Series in 2012 the Knights had sales in excess of $20,000. Knights have been operating these concession stands for the past 5 years. We will need many volunteer Knights again this coming year.

Watch this site for an opportunity to help as the next season draws near.

The scheduler will be sending emails/text messages to every Knight that can potentially contribute some time to help our Council run the concession stands.  The Knights of Columbus asks that each Knight receiving one of these emails give him the courtesy of responding as soon as possible so as to give him time to find a replacement if you cannot work a particular shift.
