Doug Skierski

Doug Skierski, the council’s Knight of the Month for October, is engaged to George Steinbrenner’s daughter from New York. No, not that Steinbrenner. But Terri Steinbrenner’s father is named George. And she has recently shifted her base of operations as an executive director in charge of bankruptcy deposit investment services for JPMorgan Chase from Manhattan to Cedar Hill. Doug is a founding partner of the Dallas law firm of Franklin Skierski Hayward LLP and now is able to conduct much of his business online from his home in Cedar Hill. Doug joined the council only a few months ago and jumped right in by helping at a couple of pancake breakfasts. Then he was sidelined by an eye problem that required surgery. “Hopefully, I’ll be able to see right out of my right eye again,” he said. Doug came to the Dallas area when he was 10 years old, moving from Illinois. He graduated from high school in Carrollton, and then continued his education in Austin. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas and returned to the area to get his law degree from SMU’s Dedman School of Law. He specializes in commercial bankruptcy and litigation. Doug joined the Knights following a personal history of being involved in other community service groups. He has two sons – James and Casey.
