Family of the Month – August 2011

Maureen White and Art Senato

Art Senato and Maureen White, the council‘s Family of the Month for August, share a fondness for baseball in general and the Texas Rangers in particular. That‘s something of a hardball culture shock for a guy from New York and a woman from New Jersey. And they see the Rangers from different perspectives – literally. Art is a hardcore fan and wouldn‘t miss our council‘s regular outings to Rangers Ballpark. Maureen attends most home games; she works them (except on Mondays and Thursdays). For the past 10 years, she has been a ticket taker at the Home Plate Gate. That afforded Maureen the opportunity to see the World Series last year. Sort of. Working a gate means a limited opportunity to actually see play. Because she works a day job as a secretary in a nearby law office, she doesn‘t often go out into the stands during her break time. “I normally go to the break room and eat,” she says. “I need my time to have dinner. If you want to go watch the game, they just have one requirement, that you change your shirt. And no drinking.”  Maureen and Art recently donated four Rangers tickets to the seminarians at Holy Trinity in Irving. A winning call, we‘d say.
