Allen and Linda Reitmeier

Allen and Linda Reitmeier

The term “downtime” is relatively inaccurate whenever describing Allen and Linda. Little time passes between their various activities involving Holy Spirit. Allen joined the council in November 2007 and took his major degree in January 2008. He has overseen the council’s youth baseball concession stand since fall 2008, this spring welcoming a group of fellow Knights to join him in an operations committee. Allen initiated 8157’s Knight Hands volunteer-service program four years ago. Little wonder he was named the council’s Knight of the Year for the 2009-10 fraternal year. Linda is a member of the outreach ministry’s Eucharistic Ministers to the sick and homebound and often also helps out all around the parish office when a need arises. “She cheers people up with her spirit,” Allen said. Linda and Allen grew up in small towns in central Minnesota that fed into one high school. They met after he’d moved on to St. Cloud State. They were married in 1969, early in Allen’s three years in the U.S. Army that included a year in Vietnam. The Reitmeiers initially came to north Texas in 1983, left for Ohio/Alabama five years later and returned to Duncanville in 1995. They have four grown children living in Alabama, Baltimore, Nashville and Lubbock and have eight grandchildren – with another expected around the beginning of September.
