Jim and Denise Richardson
Jim and Denise set a mean pace in their collective involvement at Holy Spirit and in the Catholic Church. Jim is in his first year as our council’s Deputy Grand Knight and as Faithful Navigator of Fourth Degree Assembly 2799. That means he should end two years overseeing the assembly just when he becomes Grand Knight. “I’m glad I’m retired,” Jim said. Denise belongs to Holy Spirit’s Legion of Mary and has been a member of the Carmelite Order for more than 25 years. They have participated in activities such as the pro-life events in October. Jim belongs to both Holy Spirit’s First Degree team and the diocese’s Spanish-speaking Major Degree team, the latter being one of only two in Texas. Jim became a Knight in the 1960s while living in Laredo, moved here in 1990 and joined the Fourth Degree here in 2009 along with his son. The Richardsons have been married 51 years and have four children, 10 grandchildren and two great-children. As Faithful Navigator, Jim was the primary organizer of the assembly’s second annual clergy appreciation dinner held at Holy Spirit in November. He has a business degree from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio and was most recently director of employee relations for Verizon before retiring in 2008.
