Jim Stavinoha

The council went looking for a new director of church activities late last year after Pat May earned a respite from the duties after many years. We couldn’t have picked a better successor than Jim. He has embraced the position with enthusiasm and energy. Jim hit the ground running in September with the catechist breakfast and food preparation for the fall festival. At last month’s annual parish Breakfast with St. Nick, Jim and 35 helpers sent 435 customers away more than satisfied and earned a thank-you card from Deborah Garrison, director of Holy Spirit’s children’s faith formation. Well before that, Jim was already planning for the parish’s Lenten fish fries with new menu items – some of which should be available for sampling at our February business meeting. He pitches in well beyond his own responsibilities, such as at the baseball concession stand and with Knight Hands. Jim and wife Sharon have been married for 46 years. He grew up south of San Antonio and graduated from St. Mary’s University in the Alamo City. Jim originally joined the order years ago but dropped out when family and career left little time for other pursuits. He not only reactivated a few years back but also joined the Fourth Degree last April.
