Larry Balagna
David Dybala said every time he got ready to take care of something in his capacity as the logistics manager at the parish’s recent Fall Festival, Larry had already done it. That was Larry’s M.O. for so many years, mostly recently as Northwood University’s event coordinator, before retiring in October 2013. He and wife Sheila completed the Hike for Life run in mid-October before it formally began; then, Larry helped out during the event and Sheila headed off to volunteer elsewhere. Larry is also ready, willing and able to put his handy skills to good use to assist with any Knight Hands project. The Balagnas will celebrate their 42nd anniversary in late January. They came to our area in 1995 from Illinois. Two of their three sons were already KC members when Larry decided to take the plunge here in 1996, at the urging of Dick Bates and Sheila. “All I had to do was sign the Form 100,” he said with a laugh. Sheila also retired last year, working most recently as credit manager for Gilbraltar Industries. They live in Duncanville and have six grandchildren.
