Brother Knights we have been called upon to provide security and support during the visit of this ICON to Our Lady of San Juan de los Lagos – St Theresa at 2601 Singleton Rd in Dallas (just west of Hampton Rd). The support needed is similar to the support we provided last year during the visit of Our Lady of San Juan de los Lagos. Below is the schedule for its visit from April 17 to April 26 and the number of knights needed. It is unclear what the activity will be during the day since this is the first visit of the saint’s icon.
About the Icon
Father Toribio Romo, born on April 16, 1900, was a priest in Mexico who was murdered during the Cristero Wars because he refused to stop saying Mass during the Mexican revolution in the 1920s. Awakened in the early hours of Feb 25, 1928 by the persecuting government troops, he was shot twice and died in the arms of his sister (he was 27). His compelling story is similar to that of the six Knight of Columbus priests, who were also martyred for our faith. Fr Romo was beatified on Nov 22, 1992 by Pope John Paul II, who also canonized him on May 21, 2000.
