MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING:
The minutes of our March 5th General Membership Meeting have been posted on to the website. A motion was made, seconded and approved to accept the March 5th minutes as posted.
GRAND KNIGHT’S REPORT: by Mike Fitzgerald
New Knights attending their First Meeting tonight: Juan Ruiz –He is employed as a truck driver for 10 years
Wheelchair Mission: The available dates are June 15 and June 16 and the 29th and 30th. We are awaiting approval from Fr. Uche.
Lenten Fish Fry –We had an excellent turn out from the Knights. Also, three special ladies, Mary Archer, Cappie Wood, and Holly Patterson worked at all the Fish Fries. We thank all the Knights who turned out to work and the parishioners who made the Lenten fish Fries a great success. We served a record number of people at the Fish Fries and we kept the price at $8 per meal while most other Councils were charging $10 or more per plate. We also made a profit at the Fish Fries.

The Junior Catholic Daughters’ of America (JCDA) –The cookie sales were a big success. Each week the JCDA sales were $200 or more. In addition to your yellow raffle ticket free bag, many of you supported the JCDA by purchasing additional bags. On behalf of the JCDA, thank you for your support!
Easter Set-Up –We want to thank all the Knights who helped set up and take down the chairs in the Narthex for the Easter Masses. Special thanks to Jim Ouiment, Frank Salazar, Jack Ramsden, Larry Balanga, Billy Calendar and Don Watson who helped with this project.
Installation of Officers/Corporate Communion –Our next corporate communion will take place on Saturday, June 29th followed by the installation of officers for the 2024/2025 Fraternal Year.

Star Council: Membership Goal 13; YTD 24 –we are at 24 members: our Fraternal Year ends on June 30th

Fraternal Benefits Qualifying Event by Paul Ryan
This will take place on Saturday, April 6th at the Cedar Hill Fairfield Inn (behind Hooters) starting at 7 a.m. We will watch one of the “Into the Breach” videos and then have a presentation by our Knights of Columbus insurance agent, Tom Centarri. This will qualify as one of our 2 Fraternal Qualifying events. Please join us!
Men of the Word Bible Study: by Marc Evans
The attendance has varied between 8-13 men at each session. The men have enjoyed the sessions. Another series is being considered and we will look at another day besides Wednesday to have these Bible studies. Marc also thanks the Knights for their support of the Junior Catholic Daughters and their cookie sale. The funds raised helped them offset part of the cost of attending an upcoming conference. The JCDA were very appreciative of the support they have received for their event.
Treasurer’s Report: by James Smith
Starting with last month’s ending bank balance, James advised us of this month’s deposits, less expenses and the resulting ending balance.
Baseball Concessions Update –Baseball will take place this weekend on April 6th at Valley Ridge Park in Cedar Hill. If you get a call from Miguel, our Baseball Concession Scheduler, please volunteer to work one of the concession stand shifts.
Fourth Degree Classic Car Show –This will take place on Saturday, 04/13/24 starting at 9 a.m. in our East Parking Lot. Food and drinks will be available. No beer. Please plan to attend

St. Joseph’s Residence in Dallas –This event at the St. Joseph’s Residence will take place on Saturday, May 11th.
Seminary Dinner -Father Don who was the pastor here at HSCC is now the Seminary Director. No date has been set for the event.
Life: by Mike Moloughney
The Pro-Life Dinner was a big success. Over 1200 people attended. Fr. Uche and Fr. Manny attended. The raffle takes place at a later date. Mike reports that 63% of all abortions now are done with the pill. The abortion bill is restricted in Texas, even via mail. We are accepting donations for the Pregnancy Centers like diapers, etc. Please leave them in the large wooden box in the Narthex.
Mike Moloughney led our Council as we prayed 3 Hail Marys for:
First Hail Mary – for the Unborn
Second Hail Mary – for the moms of those unborn babies – that they allow their babies to be born.
Third Hail Mary – for those in the abortion industry; that they turn away from evil and seek the face of God.
Membership/Admissions: by Jim Russell -The admissions committee met recently. The committee met with prospective member, Donovan Gardiz. He is an 18 year-old student at Midlothian Heritage School. Adan Luna is his sponsor. A motion was made, seconded and approved to accept the candidate. The exemplification ceremony will likely take place soon.

Another Carter Blood Care Drive will take place in mid-June 2024. More details to come.
Church Activities: by David Ybarra – No report
Knight Hands Project by David Dybala -absent
PIP Days –Duncanville’s Property Improvement Days happens in April. People apply to get help with various home/property improvement projects to their homes like mending fences or tree trimming or painting. As a Knight Hands project, our Council has participated in PIP for many years. David Dybala will likely be putting a Knight Hands team to work on this year’s project.
Safe Environment by Russell Leroy -no report
Recruitment: by Jim Kowalski -We are proud to announce we are well on our way to achieving Double Star Council status for our recruitment efforts. Jim states very few Councils in Texas have this designation. Let us make sure that the Knights who have signed up and approved for membership undergo their Exemplification. Please sign up for the Special Olympics at Cedar Hill High School. Knights will be in charge of handing awards to the athletes. There are three shifts available on Friday and Saturday.
Knights of Columbus State Convention – This will take place April 26-28th in Houston. Members can attend all the events during the three-day weekend. However, only delegates may vote at meetings.
NEW BUSINESS
Knight in Need Fund: Roy Seltenrich is a Knight in need. He has developed some health problems. Mike Fitzgerald recommended bringing this up at our next officers’ and directors meeting for discussion.
ACTS Fundraiser – Mike Moloughney reports there are two upcoming fundraisers. Burgers will be sold after all the masses this Sunday. There is also a Cinco de Mayo celebration on Saturday, May 4th from 6-10 p.m.
