There is no better way to experience love and
compassion than by helping those in need,
a call Knights answer every day.

Knights banded together can accomplish more
than any of us could accomplish individually
in support of our Church and priests.

Knights socialize together and take care of each other –
we have each others’ back.

Members of the Knights of Columbus are proud
of our devotion to God and country,
and believe in standing up for both.

Doug Maddox

Knight of the Month – October 2019

Doug Maddox Jr. So there were Doug and Paul Ryan – a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army and a retired Colonel in the U.S. Marines, respectively – holding down the fort by themselves, the fort in this instance being the council’s Valley Ridge football concession stand for the day’s final shift. “It took…

Knight of the Month – September 2019

Hector Rubio Hector has proved to be a versatile brother Knight since joining our council in January 2016 at the invitation of Jorge Ruiz. He’s a regular participant in Knight Hands and particularly enjoyed when those who were involved in this year’s City of Duncanville PIP project were treated to a dinner that was attended…

Knight of the Month – August 2019

David Dybala David, a Knight since 1980 and a member of our council since 1985, supervised the renovation of the parish dining hall into what’s now called The Upper Room. He not only put his Texas A&M engineering skills to good use yet again but also acquired the mural (from Istanbul, Turkey) that now graces…

Jim Russell and Tom Greco

Knight of the Month – June 2019

Jim Russell Jim has just about reached the figurative halftime of a challenging KC assignment – serving as a council officer and as the ultimate assembly officer. He’s one fraternal year into being the Faithful Navigator for Assembly 2799 and finishing up one year as Council 8157’s recording secretary. He’s turning in the latter given…

Eric Conner

Knight of the Month – April 2019

Eric Conner Eric is second-generation Knight. He recalls the excitement of he and his brother staying in a hotel in Wichita Falls on the weekend that their father, Nathaniel Rex Conner, was inducted into the Fourth Degree; his father was also a Deacon. Eric graduated from high school in Austin, earned a double-major degree in…

2019-03-05-meeting - Jorge Ruiz

Knight of the Month – March 2019

Jorge Ruiz You might not know that Jorge often wore a cycling helmet years ago. He was a serious rider, traversing hundreds of miles on weekends. These days, we know him as a brother Knight who gladly wears many hats – Chancellor, director of our awareness committee, overseeing the council’s safe environment program and disaster…

Greg Warr

Knight of the Month – February 2019

Greg Warr Greg admits that he enjoys working with “spread sheets and numbers.” So it wasn’t a stretch when Allen Reitmeier approached him years ago to handle the financials of our baseball concessions operations. And Greg continues to handle those duties now for both baseball and football with our concessions committee. Greg is in his…

Knight of the Month – January 2019

John Balasa Twenty-two years in the U.S. Army made John well acquainted with the upside of male camaraderie, John notes. So after years of helping at Holy Spirit’s 5:30 Saturday Mass, and Andy Goza and Pete Perta “convincing” him of the merits of KC membership, he went willingly. He took his first degree four years…

Knight of the Month – December 2018

Hector Rubio Hector is one of those 8157 members who’s rarely seen at the monthly meetings but makes his presence greatly felt “out in the field.” He enjoys contributing his handyman skills to our valuable Knights Hands initiative and is a regular at our Valley Ridge baseball concession stand on Saturday mornings (he’s typically the…

Knight of the Month – November 2018

Mike Moloughney Mike has been the council’s director for Pro Life activities since when? One of the annual responsibilities is coordinating 8157’s Hike for Life, held at Duncanville’s Armstrong Park. This fall’s hike took place on the morning of Saturday, Oct. 13. You might recall that happened to one particularly rainy morning during a stretch of…

Keith Archer

Knight of the Month – October 2018

Keith Archer Definition of a Knights of Columbus fast track: Keith joined our council in May, took his major degrees shortly thereafter, became an 8157 director in July (membership) and joined the Fourth Degree in September. He’s also active in other parish and diocesan endeavors. “I try to give back as much as I can,”…

Knight of the Month – September 2018

Wendell Jean Pierre Wendell joined our council in May, became the retention director in July and is scheduled to join the Fourth Degree later in September. He was recruited to the Knights at an ACTS retreat by an 8157 member (Tony Gonzalez) and has, in turn, recruited an attendee of that same retreat. Wendell quickly learned…
