[dropcaps] M [/dropcaps] ore than 200 parishioners were treated to another enjoyable Winter Welcome celebration in the community center gym on Friday night, Jan. 31. Knights were again front and center in providing assistance wherever warranted for the organizer of the annual western-themed barbecue, Community Life director Doug Karpan (a Brother Knight himself). Council members served the brisket, sausage, beans and rolls that were catered by Dickey’s Pit Barbecue in Cedar Hill. KC members also made sure the parishioners enjoyed enough iced tea and lemonade as part of their meals. Among the Knights who answered the call were Al Alonzo, Jim Richardson, Andy Goza, Allen Reitmeier, Jim Russell, Francisco Hernandez, Jim Kowalski, Larry Balagna, Frank Salazar, Doug Skierski, Bennie Sikorski, Allen Alonzo, John Rizo, Jim Ouimet, Mike Fitzgerald, Dan Murphy, Randy Reetz, Jeff Miller and La’Don Wright. Some of those gentlemen helped not only in the council’s designated mission of serving the meal but aided in other areas as representatives of specific parish ministries, like at the registration tables. On a less formal note, a fair number of brothers and their wives were among those who displayed their notable moves on the dance floor, including Dan and Pat Murphy, Larry and Sheila Balagna, David and Clara Dybala, and Mario and Becky Tiambeng. The Winter Welcome is one of the most prominent dates on Holy Spirit’s fellowship calendar, and KC members again did their part and more in making it as successful as possible.
