Meals for Seniors at St. Joseph’s Residence
The seniors at St. Joseph’s Residence in Dallas enjoyed a hot lunch today thanks to the efforts of six knights from Council 8157. The cookout was organized by David Ybarra (who drove north 30 miles from Waxahachie, TX) and Dan Murphy (who drove south 1400 miles for the winter from Naubinway, MI) and they were supported by knights James Smith, Jack Ramsden, Jim Russell and Jorge Ruiz, all local fellows.
As we did last time, we prepared and cooked everything at Holy Spirit Church, grilled burgers and hot dogs, sliced fresh veggies and provided all the condiments. We then packed it all up in aluminum trays and delivered it to the residence in time for an early lunch. Although we are not the only Knights of Columbus Council that provides meals to the residence, there are 2-3 others, the residents are always glad to welcome us and are more than happy to accept the gifts. We in turn gain the satisfaction of knowing our small contribution brought a little smile to the face of a senior from our community. Good stuff.
